1988 944 Turbo S
The 944 Turbo S, Factory Designation 951/952, sat at the top of the 944 lineup in 1988 only, with a 250-hp turbocharged version of the 944's 2.5-liter flat 4-cylinder. Some period magazines claimed the 944 Turbo S was faster than the 911 Turbo, and there was no doubt that it could haul: Published acceleration tests noted a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of 5.5 seconds. The 944 Turbo S wheels, known as the Club Sport design, were 16-inch Fuchs forged and flat-dished, similar to the Design 90 wheel. Wheel widths were 7 inches (178 mm) at the front, and 9 inches (229 mm) at the rear with a 52 mm (2.047 in) offset; sizes of the Z-rated tyres were 225/50 in the front and 245/45 in the rear.
